Croydon Car Free Day Event
On Saturday 22nd September a number of own BWA students appeared on the streets of Croydon to support this event.
From the 24th-28th April 2001, 14 of students appeared in the Croydon Stagers production of Annie at the Ashcroft Theatre, Croydon.
Our Summer School in 2001 was Mamma Mia
On Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th November 2001 some of our very own BWA students appeared in the Chisinau National Opera production of Turandot at the Royal Albert Hall.
We entered the play Chaos and Order which was written by our Drama Teacher June Stimson. The cast was made up of 42 members of our drama students. The adjudicator awarded us The Dave Gaskin Trophy for Technical Excellence.

The Big Show
The show took place at Stanley Halls Theatre at South Norwood on 19th, 20th, 27th and 28th November,
Friday 23rd July & Saturday 24th July 2010 at 7.30pm
This year was Grease working with ex-Betty Wivell student Daniel Ioannou and other members from the West End cast!
Summer School ran from the 26th July – 30th July
The Bartered Bride
The Royal College of Music performed The Bartered Bride, directed by Jo Davis. The following BWA students performed Hannah Giles, Celia Sutcliff, Oliver Mozley, Rhodri Meredith, Grace Cinque-White and Ezmaii Bulsara Crosbie. Please come along and support them.
Norbury Village Dance Festival
Sunday 30th May at 4pm – We have been invited to perform at this event again this year.
Croydon Dance Festival
This took place at the Ashcroft theatre Croydon for one week beginning the 1st-6th June.
The Mayors Show
We performed at the The Mayors Show on Sunday 7th March at 6pm at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon.

We were invited to perform at St Andrews School Polworth Road Streatham SW16 2ET on Saturday 11th July
Jason and Rianna to go to GSA
Congratulations to Jason Kajdi and Rianna Dawkins who have been awarded scholarships to attend the two week Musical Theatre Summer School at the Guildford Conservatoire.
Sunday 3rd May at 2pm & 4pm. At Norbury Park We were invited to perform at this event to promote all that is good about Norbury. It was a fun day with lots of other groups performing including the Ballroom Professionals.
Croydon Festival 2009
This year was held on Sunday 24th, 26th, 27th & 28th May at the Ashcroft Theatre Croydon
Drama Evening 4th April
Congratulations to Sarah Harvey who won The DRAMA AWARD will was announced on the evening, for the pupil that has show most dedication commitment and progress of talent in acting throughout the year.
Several children from the BWA Agency perfomed at this Bushfire fundraiser
The children were Hannah & Sophie Giles, Hannah Connery, Emma Rose, Thomas Smith, Sean Lopeman, N’dira Fedinand, Daisy, Molly & Eve Steere, Alex Church, Isabelle Outtaro, Alisha Capon, Amber Staniforth, Daisy Smalley-Nicholson.
Choreography Competition 2009
Congratulations to Alanna Kajdi for winning the Evelyn Barry Award and Javana Forrest for winning the Cordelia Worsley Ballet Cup.
London Children’s Ballet
We are pleased to announce that both Oliver Mozley and Luke Cinque-White successfully auditioned for this company. The boys will perform in Snow White which will go on at the Peacock Theatre in London’s West End, from Thursday 23rd – Sunday 26th April 2009.
Luke Cinque-White at the Royal Ballet School
Luke Cinque-White has now gone to the Royal Ballet School White Lodge in Richmond Park. We are very proud of this success and wish him loads of luck for his stay at this prestigious ballet school.
Peter Pan – Croydon Panto
20 pupils successfully auditioned and will be performing in this years panto at the Ashcroft Theatre.
Giselle – Ballet Russe
Pupils performed at The Fairfield Halls in Croydon in Giselle with the Ballet Russe between 3rd-10th January 2009.

BWA Trust Fund Junior Committee
For the first time ever we have set up a junior trust committee to help come up with new ideas for raising funds. In this time of credit crunch it is even more important for us to not let our fund slip, and to be able to continue to support as many x-pupils as possible.
Was a huge success as always with plenty numbers from Dance Festivals attended during the year. Thanks to all the choreographers for their hard work through out the year producing new material.
Jason and Sean awarded “Aspire”
We are pleased to announce that Jason Kajdi and Sean Lopeman have been offered a place on the Aspire Dance Mentoring Scheme. This is very exciting for the school and the boys.
The scheme is a joint initiative by London Youth Dance and the Council for Dance Education and Training.
Emily and Charlotte at GSA
Emily Giles and Charlotte Driessler were lucky enough to attend Summer School at the Guildford Conservatoire.
Betty Wivell – a Celebration – September 2008
Our concert on Sunday was a great success . Betty is still reeling from the surprise. Thank you to everyone for your support and for taking part in this momentus occasion.

We are proud to announce that Luke Cinque-White has just been accepted onto the Royal Ballet School Senior Associate programme from September 2008 for one year!
Cordelia Worsley Ballet Cup
Was awarded to Grace Cinque-White for most consistent work and improvement in major ballet lessons this year.
Drama Award to Emily Carewe-Jeffries
This was presented at the Drama Evening which took place on Saturday 5th April at St. Phillips Church Hall Norbury.

Seussical at Tudor Lodge
We have been invited to perform a short concert to entertain the residence of Tudor Lodge Residential Home Croydon on Saturday 1st December at 3pm
Summer School 2007
Summer School ran this year from 30th July – 4th August 2007.
The production was a condensed version of the musical Mary Poppins and the children were taught by working professionals from the musical theatre industry.
Thank you to all those who came to support us on Friday 3rd August when we put on a workshop production of the show at St Philips church hall.

BWA pupils on TV
The Betty Wivell Agency had a casting for a BBC period drama to be shown over Christmas, based on the classic book The Ballet Shoes. The following children from the agency have been cast Grace Cinque-White, Harriet Harvey, Daisy & Molly Steere, and Victoria Taylor. We are very proud they have been chosen and look forward to seeing them on our screens soon!
Several pupils were entered into this dance festival at The Ashcroft Theatre on 12th & 13th May and 2nd & 3rd June.
Tonbridge Festival 2007
Any numbers entered in Croydon Festival that won last year were entered into Tonbridge Festival which ran from Saturday 7th – 15th April.
Drama Evening 2007
Was held on Saturday 31st March. Congratulations to Chloe Madigan who won the June Stimpson drama award for most acting potential and progress through out the year.
Choreography Competition 2007
Was held on Saturday 17th March at St Philips Church Hall Norbury.

BWA on West End Stage – 17th December 2006.
Pupils from BWA performed two numbers from the Croydon Festival – Switch and Forget about the Boy at the Shaftesbury Theatre on 17th December. This was a really great opportunity to gain experience in one of London’s West End Theatres.
BWA Trust Sponsored Walk – October 2006
Thank you and well done to everyone who took part and all the sponsors. We have raised so far an amazing £1,200.00.
Choreography Competition 2006 – Saturday 25th March.
The evening raised £166.16 for the BWA Trust.
A big congratulations goes to Alanna Kajdi who won the Evelyn Barry Award for the Most Choreographic Potential and Charlotte Driessler who won the Ballet Award.
Drama Evening 2006 – Saturday 1st April
Congratulations to our winner Sarah Harvey. The evening raised £303.09 for the BWA Trust.
Croydon Festival – 29th/30th May/1st Jun.
At the Ashcroft Theatre Croydon. Congratulations to all our winners.
Cabaret – 21st and 22nd July.
This year, Cabaret took place on the Friday 21st and Saturday 22nd July.

This year’ s summer school was Footloose The Musical and we were delighted to welcome some of the West End and Touring cast to BWA to teach you this year.
Singing Evening 8th December 2006.
We held an evening of songs directed by Sue Appleby at Parchmore Community Centre in Thornton Heath at 7pm. A magical evening of songs from the musicals, finishing with Christmas Carols for all to join in. This is Sue’s last term at The BWA! We are very sad to be losing Sue as she has been a great strength to the singing department and its development over the last five years. She will be sadly missed. Profits from this event were split between the Betty Wivell Academy Trust Fund and The Parchmore Community Centre Building Fund.

Cabaret – 22-23rd July.
This year’s cabaret was held at St Philip’s Church Hall. It was a presentation of the work entered this year’s Croydon Dance Festival and the singing lessons.
Summer School – 25th -29th July.
This year’s summer school show was based on We Will Rock You
Croydon Festival – 30th May – Saturday 4th June.
Several pupils from the school entered to dance at this competition, which took place atthe Fairfield Halls.

Christmas Show – 9th-11th December 2004
The BWA’s Christmas Show, “Rock Nativity” was performed at St Philips Church Hall. The event raised £650 for the BWA Trust Fund.
Summer School – 26th-30th July
This year’s summer school was the fabulous Tap Musical “Anything Goes”
Cabaret – 23rd and 24th July
This year for the first time ever was held over 2 evenings. The event raised £2,756 for the BWA Trust Fund.
Choreography Competition – 22nd May
Congratulations to Victoria Taylor who won the competition. The event raised £154.93 for the BWA Trust Fund.
Drama Evening – 3rd April
Congratulations to Lara Delaney who was awarded the June Stimson Drama Award for 2004. The event raised £426.15 for the BWA Trust Fund.
Tonbridge Festival – 10-18 April
A great success.
Singing Evening – 24th April
The singing classes (Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings) performed their own one-act musicals. The event raised £343.71 for the BWA Trust Fund and the Parchmore Building Fund.
